Katy was born in the UK and moved to Berlin in 2019, her teaching style is powerful, energetic and most importantly full of fun! She completed her 200 hour teaching training at Y4ALL in Mitte and is also a professional dancer so is fascinated with how the body moves and how powerful it can be. Katy’s main aim when teaching yoga is to leave her students feeling fulfilled, energized and hopefully a little bit sweaty! Powerful vinyasa flows are her signature style but there are always modifications available for those who need it – Yoga should be for everyone and Katy wants to encourage everyone to come along and give her class a try. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to try!

Katy’s classes will follow the vinyasa flow style – sun salutations followed by standing postures into inversions, backbends and forward folds. Katy will also structure her classes to suit the time of day. A morning class will be more energetic with a focus on back bends whilst evening classes will be structured to help the body wind down at the end of the day, so more focus on forward folds and calming postures. There will always be time dedicated to the end of class for shavasana and a short meditation so your body has the appropriate amount of time to relax after class and you can leave class feeling refreshed and revitalised.

What yoga is for me:
Yoga means taking the time to focus solely on myself and what I need, even if that’s just taking five minutes to close my eyes and breath.

My aims as a teacher:
I want my students to enjoy their classes and have fun. I hope that they will feel comfortable to express their emotions during class and always be willing to try. I want to give them the confidence to always be adventurous in their practice.

Most important during class:
Being able to laugh at yourself and not take things too seriously. If you are present and breathing you are doing yoga so don’t put pressure on yourself to have the „perfect“ practice.
